Florencia Herrera (Santiago, 1974). She is a sociologist and PhD in Anthropology, which is why she dedicates most of her time to research and academia. In 2003, she was diagnosed with a disease called retinitis pigmentosa. Since then, she has been adjusting to seeing less every day. For a time she used a cane to orient herself and for a few years she has been accompanied by Otto, her guide dog, who helps her maintain her independence. This is why inclusion and disability are recurring themes in her works. She has published four books: Remi Looks for a Job, Adela and the Missing Socks, Oscar and One Animal, One Vote.
Winner of IBBY Chile Medalla Colibrí Award for Adela and the Missing Socks, Children's Fiction Category, 2019.

Remi is a cat who spends most of his time goofing around the park where he lives. One day, bored and tired of doing nothing, he decides to start looking for a job. He thinks of becoming the next president but it doesn’t work out. Then, he searches for other possibilities, maybe working as an opera singer or even... becoming a thief! But none of these occupations seemed to fit with his personality.
Will Remi be able to find a job that makes him happy?
He will later conclude that the place where he belongs needs him and what he was doing there happily but with no recognition was a real job.

Estoy afónico.
Ya ni siquiera puedo ladrar. Y esa es mi única
entretención. Ladro a todos los que pasan. Ladro
cuando pasa un niño en bicicleta, ladro cuando veo
un gato a lo lejos, ladro cuando pasan dos viejitos
tomados de la mano...
